Silver Palm is a Finalist in latest exhibition

I am thrilled to announce that my painting “Silver Palm” is a Finalist in the 3rd Annual Conroe Art League National Invitational Show at The Gallery at the Madeley Building in Conroe, Texas. The Exhibition will run from March 7th through Saturday March 31, 2018.

The juror of the show, Peter Andrew – a Professor of Art at Stephen F. Austin State University -, chose my work and 100 others from over 335 submissions he received from 26 states across the country.

“Silver Palm” belongs to my Mosaic Painting Series which can be seen at my website at www.sps-art.com/product-category/mosaic-painting .

I see in my Mosaic Painting Series a synthesis of my experiments with geometry, color and figure, simulating in a way, the visual qualities of computer images. Mosaic painting does not mean I use ceramic tiles: It is painting on a canvas divided in squares as if imitating wall mosaics. I can dare to say that each square is a miniature painting in itself, detached from the others, but an important and necessary part of a whole. Just as the way nature works: The ‘micro’ is an indispensable part of the ‘macro’. The result is a realistic painting composed of dozens and even hundreds of little square abstract paintings.
