After a summer in France, -with a short visit to Andalucía-, I came home to Houston and started the series “Toits du Nord, Toits du Sud” (Roofs of the North, Roofs of the South) where I concentrated mainly on roofs which is what fascinated me the most in French architecture. I am also very captivated by the simplicity of lines, the very strong contrast between the brightness of the enormously tall white walls against the deep blue sky, and the contrast with the very dark and sharp shadows they spill on themselves and the roofs. I find these tall walls so impressive, as if they have almost a noble bearing. You look up to them, as if they always had a grand story to tell of their genteel beginnings, and the people who built and inhabited them.Read more
