I called this series People and Pets and not ‘Portraits’ because the traditional definition of a portrait is ‘the representation of a person or animal in which the face and its expression is predominant’. Obviously the intent of a portrait is to display the likeness and the personality of the subject, which is what we artists do our best to accomplish when we receive such important commissions.  But in my paintings specially of kids, rather than a portrait, I am more interested in painting a mood and to display simply childhood, children being children.  Read more
