The emphasis in an artist’s work is to create new things or to transform the common objects of our trivial existence into something more meaningful and lasting. Each work of art alludes to the past but aims at the future; it is a living chain that ties modern art with that of the primitive people. But the images we use to express ourselves today are mainly symbolic; we do not relate to them in the same way, and they do not influence our lives as profoundly as that of the primitive man. It is very difficult for us in our actual civilization to attain fully their simplicity and sincerity, but what I am striving to portray in my abstract works is our inner and outer world recalling the simple ways of expression of those who were closer to the beginning of humanity. Read more
